• Zabel Family Hosts Annual Clothing Drive

    February 10, 2011 No comments

The Zabel family will be accepting donations during its eighth annual clothing drive to benefits Sheltering Wings, a local domestic violence shelter for women and their children.

This year’s clothing drive will be from noon to 5 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Zabel home, 6850 Four Winds Court.

The Zabel family in Brownsburg collected more than 1,000 bags of clothing during last year’s drive. For every bag of clothing they collect, Goodwill gives Sheltering Wings a $5 voucher to a local Goodwill store.

Last year, the clothing drive raised more $5,300 in vouchers for the women and children of Sheltering Wings. The voucher program allows the women at the shelter to shop for the clothes they need to help them get back on their feet without taking up room at Sheltering Wings.

Since the clothing does not go directly to the shelter, the family can collect all types of clothing — men’s, women’s, and children’s. They also will accept belts, purses, and shoes.

Any new or gently used business suits, coats and nurse scrubs also will be pulled out separately to meet immediate needs at the shelter.

In addition to those who wish to donate clothing, the family also needs people to volunteer their time on the day of the drive.

For more information, call Sarah Zabel, (317) 852-6633.
