• Young girl dies after being pulled from Brownsburg area pool

    An 8-year-old girl died Thursday after she was pulled from the bottom of a neighborhood swimming pool in Brownsburg.

    Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Lt. Jim Yetter said
    8 year old Aalayah Willis of Indianapolis’ Westside, died at IU Health West after another child found her at the bottom of a 5-foot deep Pool at the Eagle Crossing housing addition at 56th Street and Raceway Road shortly before 5:30 p.m.

    Yetter said About 50 people were using the pool when a 13-year-old swimmer noticed the child on the bottom of the pool and dived down to retrieve her,.

    Other swimmers helped bring the girl out of the water and someone performed CPR on her until rescuers arrived.

    The girl was from the Indianapolis area and was at the pool with relatives who live in the Eagle Crossing neighborhood.
