Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials say that a 64-year-old Indianapolis woman has died after she was struck on the northwest side of Indianapolis by a vehicle Monday evening, and then struck again.

The incident happened at about 10:30 p.m. on Georgetown Road near 71st Street. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is looking for the first vehicle to strike the woman, as it left the scene.

Witnesses say they heard the sound of an impact and saw four vehicles stopped when another car headed southbound on Georgetown Road struck and dragged the woman about 350 feet. She was pinned under the car as a result.

IMPD identified the woman who died as Brendalin Sanders.

Officers believe the driver of the second vehicle that hit the woman didn’t see her. Alcohol isn’t believed to be a factor in the crash.

IMPD is looking for a 2000 to 2007 Ford Taurus or 2000 to 2005 Mercury Sable. The vehicle will be maroon with significant outside passenger side mirror damage.

Anyone with information about the incident should call police.
