• Whitestown Police Major found guilty of deception

    Jurors found a police department major guilty of one charge and not guilty of another Wednesday afternoon the Lebanon Reporter reports.

    Whitestown Police Maj. James R. Fouch Jr. was facing official misconduct and deception charges after he was accused of deceiving a company into surrendering one of their vehicles. He reportedly lied to Abbott Laboratories about the vehicle being used in a crime, the condition of the vehicle and the costs the company would encounter for the storage and eventual return of the Jeep.

    The jury found Fouch not guilty of official misconduct and guilty of deception. He faces a possible maximum sentence of a year in jail and $5,000 in fines. Sentencing is set for Aug. 24.

    Fouch told gathered family and friends he didn’t like the verdict but knew he had to accept it.
