• White asks judge to dismiss charges against him

Indiana Secretary of State Charlie White will try to convince a judge to dismiss criminal charges including theft and voter fraud against him that could lead to his removal from office.

Judge Steven Nation was set to hear oral arguments Friday in Hamilton Superior Court in Noblesville, north of Indianapolis.

White was indicted in March on seven felony counts. The Republican has maintained his innocence to charges he voted in the 2010 primary from an address where he didn’t live and continued taking his Fishers town councilman’s salary after moving from his district.

White claims in a court brief that special prosecutors didn’t provide grand jurors evidence that favored him and didn’t adequately explain the law to them.

Prosecutors counter that they presented evidence on which White insisted.
