• Warriors fall to #1 Mt. Vernon in regional

    After the first 16 minutes of play in Saturday mornings regional opener at Greencastle, Danville stood toe to toe with the top ranked team in the state of Indiana in class 3A as the Warriors took a one point lead into the locker room at the break against Mount Vernon leading by the score of 21 – 20.

    But the Marauders would come out of the locker room with guns blazing in the 3rd quarter as Mount Vernon’s talented guards CJ Coleman and Anthony Burnett finished the game sharing game-high honors with 17 points apiece and the duo combined to go 17 of 22 from the free-throw line to lead Mount Vernon over Danville by the score of 56 – 41.

    Mount Vernon outscored Danville 18 – 6 in the 3rd quarter and 36 – 20 over the final 16 minutes to advance to the regional finals where they defeated Frankfort Saturday night 70 – 49 to advance to the semi-state where they will play number two ranked Greensburg on Saturday.

    Ian Asher led the Warriors with 16 points while Avery Motes and Jackson Stone finished with 8 points apiece.

    The Warriors finished their season with an 18 – 6 record.
