As part of the recently announced name and logo changes to Visit Hendricks County, three full-time staff members have received promotions and another has shifted responsibilities to better fulfill the mission of selling and marketing Hendricks County as a tourist destination.

Sarah McMillen, the former Tourism Marketing Manager, has been promoted to Director of Marketing. In her new role, she will oversee the entire marketing efforts of Visit Hendricks County. McMillen has worked for the company since March 2008 starting as Marketing Coordinator before being promoted to the Tourism Marketing Manager role in 2010.

Becky Harris, the former Sales Manager, has been promoted to Director of Sales. In her new role, she will manage the sales staff and lead the company’s efforts in promoting Hendricks County to group tour operators and sports groups. Harris joined Visit Hendricks County in May 2009 as a part-time Project Assistant. Within a year, she was elevated to Sales Manager.

Karen Eddy, the former Administrative Assistant who was hired in January 2012, has been promoted to Visitor Services Coordinator. In her new role, Eddy will handle general destination and organization inquiries and brochure distribution as well as managing the Event Calendar.

Tracy Whetstone, the former Community and Events Manager, has begun transitioning into her new role of Groups Manager. As Groups Manager, Whetstone will assist in motor coach trip planning and selling Hendricks County as a group-friendly destination. She joined the staff in March 2008 as the Community and Events Manager.

In addition to the staffing changes, the Tourism Commission — the governing body for Visit Hendricks County — also has undergone some recent changes.

The Commission welcomed a new member in February: Amber Armstrong, who works for Cambria Suites in Plainfield.

    The Commission’s Executive Committee includes:

    • President – Dick Thompson, representing the Hendricks County Council
    • Vice President – Lance Angle, Metropolis
    • Treasurer – Kent McPhail, Town of Plainfield
    • Secretary – Lee Tesdahl, Artistic Designs Gallery
    • Past President – Lew White, Lew White Tours

Other members of the commission include:

    • Amber Armstrong, Cambria Suites
    • Lynne Fuller, F2, Inc.
    • Gregory Hole, West Chase Golf Club and Tomahawk Hills Golf Course
    • Jennifer Smith, Holiday Inn Express and Staybridge Suites.

The nine-member Tourism Commission is comprised of 7 appointments from the County Commissioners and 2 appointments by the largest municipality in the county, currently the Town of Plainfield.
