Two Indianapolis men are under arrest following a pair of gas station robberies early Monday morning.

Plainfield Police were called to the Speedway gas station on E. Main Street shortly before 2 a.m. this morning.

As a result, 20 year old James William Ross Jr is charged with conspiracy to commit theft and conspiracy to commit robbery. Carlos Payne is charged with robbery, theft, pointing a firearm possession of a firearm and criminal confinement. Both are being held in the Hendricks County jail.

Plainfield Police say Payne allegedly drove the getaway car while Ross entered the Speedway gas station at 3066 E. Main Street. Investigators say Ross grabbed an ice tea from the cooler and went to the checkout where he allegedly pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money from the cash register and the safe.

The clerk handed over the money from the cash drawer but told Ross he was not able to open the safe. Ross then reportedly fled to an awaiting car. Surveillance cameras captured the car speeding away.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police are looking into whether the same suspects held up another Speedway gas station just 18 minutes later at 10th Street and Girls School Road.

A similar description of suspects was put out by Metro police following the robbery there.

While police were questioning suspects in that case, a third gas station was held up within the same hour.

Shortly before 3 a.m. police were called to the 8700 block of Crawfordsville Road on a robbery of an Admiral Gas Station.

Three suspects are being sought in that case. All three were armed with guns and wearing all black clothing.
