• Tribe begins begins chase for wild-card spot tonight

After their final scheduled off day of the 2011 season, the Indianapolis Indians return to action tonight as they host the Toledo Mud Hens in the first game of a four game series at Victory Field. It is also the first game of a stretch of six games in a row that the Mud Hens and Tribe will square off against one another. After the four game series in Indianapolis, the Tribe will then embark on an eight game road trip that will see Indianapolis play the first two games in Toledo before wrapping up the road trip with stops in Columbus and Louisville.

Indianapolis is now tied for second place in the International League’s West Division with Louisville. Both teams have identical 58-54 records and stand eleven and a half games behind division leader Columbus. The Clippers own the best record in minor league baseball with a record of 69-42.

While a division championship might seem highly improbable, the Indians remain in the race for a wild-card playoff berth. Indianapolis is tied with Louisville four and a half games back of Pawtucket for the wild-card spot with Gwinnett and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ahead of the Tribe.

Indianapolis begins their stretch run tonight with a 7:05 game against the Mud Hens. Right-hander Ross Ohlendorf will make what is likely his final rehab start for Indianapolis before returning to the Pittsburgh Pirates while lefty Fu-Te Ni is scheduled to take the mound for Toledo.
