Two of the top girl’s basketball teams in Hendricks County squared off in the other first round matchup at Tri-West high school as the host Lady Bruins took on Cascade. Both schools entered the game with identical 9-2 records and the game played out much like their records would indicate through the first half with the Lady Cadets entering the locker room at the half with a slim 25-23 lead.

But the Bruins came out in the third quarter and outscored Cascade 19-11 to lead by 6 points entering the final period 42-36. Tri-West would make the lead hold up and defeated Cascade to move on to the winner’s bracket 64-55.

Tri-West’s Jade Hill shared game high scoring honors with 20 points including 3 three-pointers. Rachel Allen and Lauren DeSutter scored 13 points each and Kelly Ricks chipped in with 10 points.

Cascade’s (9-3) Krista Powell also scored 20 points. Brandyce Sallee and Sydney Stein each scored 11 points for the Lady Cadets with 9 of Sallee’s 11 coming from behind the arc.

Tri-West moves on to face Avon (5-6) Friday night in game one of a double header at Danville High School beginning at 6:00 PM. Cascade will face Danville at Noon on Saturday in the fifth place game. That game is scheduled to tip-off at Noon.
