• Train hits car injuring two teens

    Two teenagers were sent to a hospital overnight after their car collided with a train on Indianapolis’ near east side.

    Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials say an 18-year-old woman and 15-year-old girl were in the car when the train hit it around midnight. The incident occured at Massachusetts Avenue and Rural Street.

    The train was going about 40 mph when it hit the car. It wasn’t clear how badly the two people in the car were hurt.

    Officers say the railroad crossing arms were working properly.
