• Traffic Shift on I-465 at South Side I-65 Interchange

    March 14, 2014 No comments

Contractors for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plan to shift lane markings tonight on eastbound Interstate 465 through the work zone at the south side Operation Indy Commute I-65 interchange improvement project.

Motorists should expect alternating multi-lane restrictions on eastbound I-465 and temporary restrictions on the ramp from southbound I-65 to eastbound I-465. The restrictions for painting lane markings are scheduled from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and are dependent on favorable weather conditions.

Walsh Construction, INDOT’s contractor for the $40 million project, is shifting traffic away from the median to provide workers room for pavement and bridge pier construction. Contractors are also currently constructing auxiliary lanes along I-65 to connect between the I-465 and Southport Road interchange ramps. A new two-lane flyover ramp from westbound I-465 to southbound I-65 is being constructed to replace the existing single-lane loop ramp. Sherman Drive remains closed until approximately Sept. 1 as the bridge over I-465 is reconstructed and lengthened to accommodate widening I-465 below.

Motorists, businesses and residents are encouraged to learn more about Operation Indy Commute I-65 & I-465 improvements at www.indycommute.indot.in.gov. Updates will also be provided on the Indiana Department of Transportation: East Central Facebook page and on Twitter @INDOT_ECentral
