The Town of Brownsburg is partnering with Disposal Alternatives Organization (DAO) again for a free drop-off recycling event on Saturday, September 24 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Brownsburg Fleet Maintenance Facility, 221 S. Mardale Drive.

Area residents and businesses can recycle computers, office equipment, appliances and electronics along with other hard to recycle items. The following items will be accepted: computers, appliances, air conditioners, cardboard, batteries, oil, A/V equipment, medical equipment, wiring & cables, office machines, paper, clothes, metals, glass lawn tools, plastics, bicycles, Styrofoam.

DAO will require a $5 dollar processing fee for CRT computer monitors, TVs and mattresses. Toxic chemicals, paint, furniture, and wood will not be accepted.

DAO will also offer free pick-up of large appliances like washers, dryers, refrigerators, water heaters, and furnaces the week of Sept. 19 through 23. Residents or businesses should call DAO at (317)375-7788 by Sept. 15 to schedule a pick-up appointment.

The Town’s two previous recycling events with DAO have collected more than 30 tons of waste – from paper and plastics to hazardous household products, appliances, and electronics. DAO diverts 600 to 800 tons of recyclable materials a week from Indiana landfills, reducing leaching and streams of toxic chemicals from water treatment processes.
