The Town of Brownsburg is once again partnering with Disposal Alternatives Organization (DAO) for a free drop-off recycling event on Saturday, September 15 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Brownsburg Fleet Maintenance Facility, 221 S. Mardale Drive.
Area residents and businesses can recycle computers, office equipment, appliances and electronics along with other hard to recycle items. The following items will be accepted: appliances, computers, printers, cell phones, batteries, televisions, VCRs, stereos, speakers, wiring, monitors, keyboards, computer mice, power tools, mattresses, metals, lawn mowers, and oil.
Please note that DAO will require a $5 dollar processing fee for computer monitors, TVs and mattresses. Toxic chemicals, paint, furniture, and wood will not be accepted.
DAO offers free pick-up of large appliances like washers, dryers, refrigerators, water heaters, and furnaces. Residents or businesses should call DAO at (317) 375-7788 to schedule a pick-up appointment.
The Town’s recycling event held last September diverted more than 19 tons of waste from Indiana’s landfills. Since partnering with DAO in 2010, the Town’s recycling events have collected nearly 50 tons of waste – from paper and plastics to hazardous household products, appliances and electronics. DAO diverts 600 to 800 tons of recyclable materials a week from Indiana landfills, reducing leaching and streams of toxic chemicals from water treatment processes.
