The Town of Brownsburg is seeking applications from residents who are interested in serving on the municipality’s boards and commissions. Seats are open for terms beginning January 2013 on the Town’s Advisory Plan Commission, Redevelopment Commission (RDC), Park Board, and Police Commission.

Under Indiana Law, the Plan Commission is responsible for the Town’s comprehensive plan, zoning ordinance, subdivision control, approving development plans, and assigning street addresses. The Redevelopment Commission assists with planning and development for businesses in the corporate limits and promotes land use that is in the best interest of the Town. The Plan Commission seat is a 4-year term and the RDC position is a 1-year appointment.

The Brownsburg Park Board oversees the objectives and policies for effective operation of parks facilities and administration of recreation programs. The vacancy is a 4-year appointment.  The Police Commission is responsible for the rules and regulations for the management of the Brownsburg Police Department. There is a 3-year appointment available.

The Plan Commission, RDC, Park Board, and Police Commission meetings are held regularly at Town Hall, 61 N. Green Street, and are open to the public. Live video of the meetings is streamed on the internet and archived on the Town’s website.

Residents who are interested in serving in a leadership capacity may complete the Application for Boards and Commissions on the Town’s website, www.brownsburg.org. Applications must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, November 30 to the Town Manager’s Office, 61 N. Green Street, Brownsburg, IN 46112.

Town Council will meet in early December to conduct interviews and will announce the boards and commissions appointments in January. For more information, click Boards & Commissions under the Town Officials tab at www.brownsburg.org or call 852-1120.
