The Town of Brownsburg was able to update the progress concerning the impending realignment project that will see a traffic signal and left hand turn lanes added in each direction along Odell Street and U.S. 136.

In an article published in the Hendricks County Flyer, Bart Doan talked to Brownsburg town planning director Todd Barker who said, “INDOT has issued the notice to proceed, and it appears the contractor is still waiting on Duke to relocate two telephone poles before they are able to proceed.”

Barker also noted that the project, which has a four to five month time table, is not expected to be affected by the high temperatures.

The intersection has long been a well traveled one, leading to many vehicle calamities or near incidents.

Barker noted that the problems stem from the reality that when the intersection was originally conceived, the population of the town was in the 14,000 to15,000 range. Currently, more than 21,000 people live in Brownsburg, highlighting a need to keep up with the increase through safe measures.

The town was unsure at the moment of the timetable for moving the poles, but was in the process of gathering that information.
