An Osgood teen who was reportedly texting while driving was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Ripley County on Friday.

According to the Indiana State Police, 18-year-old Emily Huntington was ejected from the van she was driving Friday night after it skidded into a field and overturned. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt.

Huntington was pronounced dead at the scene by a Ripley County coroner’s office official.

A passenger in the van, 19 year old Brooke Gilland also of Osgood, was wearing her seat belt and was not injured.

Gilland told police that Huntington was texting someone just before the crash.

State Troopers recovered Huntington’s cell phone and found a partial text message that had not been sent.
