• Terre Haute South 59, Plainfield 52 – Girls High School Basketball

    February 08, 2012 No comments

Plainfield headed into the Terre Haute North Sectional as the odds-on favorite to win the sectional championship but Terre Haute South’s Hannah Lee had other ideas as the senior center scored 17 points while pulling down 15 boards, dishing out 6 assists and blocking 4 shots for good measure as the Lady Quakers were dealt an opening round upset loss by the Braves 59-52.

Plainfield (16-6) led by four after the first period and led 32-29 at the intermission. In a game that stayed tight throughout, the Lady Quakers still led by three points heading in to the final quarter.

That is when Lee and Terre Haute South (12-10) took over as the Lady Braves consistently put the ball in Lee’s hands in the low post where Plainfield would have no answers.

Kasey Johnson led the Lady Quakers with 20 points even though she found herself in early foul trouble and Lesley Fisher also finished in double figures with 15 points.

Plainfield’s season comes to a close as the Lady Quakers finish with a 16-6 mark.
