A Marion County jury on Wednesday found a 17-year-old boy not guilty in the slayings of two Camby men, officials said.

Logan Mediate had been charged with murder in the January 2011 deaths of 45 year old William Smith and 50 year old Victor Pennell in an alley behind 48 N. Addison St., on the Indianapolis’ far west side.

Mediate was 16 at the time, and his case was transferred to adult court, where he was found not guilty on the third day of his trial.

At the time of the incident, police said the slayings were possibly drug-related.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Mediate admitted knowing both of the men, saying they used to hang out with his mother.

Police said Mediate also confessed to three people, saying he shot two men who were trying to rob him of methamphetamine and money.

Police described Mediate as a troubled teen with an extensive criminal background.
