Local students in grades six through 12 can now submit requests to serve as a page with State Sen. Pete Miller’s (R-Avon) office during the Indiana General Assembly’s 2014 legislative session.
“The Senate page program provides opportunities for local students to learn about the legislative process and their government,” Miller said. “From my experience, pages really enjoy their day at the Statehouse where they tour the capitol building, interact with state officials and watch debates in the Senate Chamber. It’s also exciting for me to connect with students from our area who will one day lead our state.”
Serving as a page is considered an excused absence from school.
The program runs from Jan. 6 to March 14, 2014, and students may serve as pages on Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays. Space is limited, so applicants should submit their materials as soon as possible.
Students can apply online at www.indianasenaterepublicans.com/page-program or send a letter to State Sen. Pete Miller, 200 W. Washington St,, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
