Indiana State Police announced Thursday that an Indianapolis man faces charges for swallowing marijuana during a traffic stop.

35 year old Edward Ector was booked into the Marion County Jail on charges of obstruction of justice and possession of marijuana.

A trooper stopped Ector for a seat belt and moving violation and asked to search his car.

State police say Ector refused to exit the car, pulled out a bag of what they suspect to be marijuana, and began eating it. Police say he finally got out of the car when he finished consuming the green, leafy substance.

He was subsequently taken into custody and evaluated by medics.
