The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Saturday at approximately 10:00 PM on CR 200 E south of CR 400 S.

Investigators indicated that a 2006 Pontiac Grand Am driven by 23 year old Jordan D. Platt of Plainfield and occupied by two others was northbound on CR 200 E south of CR 400 S when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole and embankment.  It is unclear at this time why the vehicle left the roadway.  The rear seat passenger, 18 year old Kayley J. Mathers of Paragon, was pronounced dead at the scene.  She was not wearing her seatbelt.  Platt was transported to Wishard with possible internal injuries. The front seat passenger, 17 year old Ashley L. Doyle of Clayton, was transported to Methodist complaining of pain.  The driver and front seat passenger were wearing seatbelts.  The investigation is ongoing at this time.  It is believed that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash but toxicology results are pending.
