Severe thunderstorms, with the possibility of tornadoes, very large hail and damaging winds, were expected to roar into Central Indiana today, according to the National Weather Service at Indianapolis.

This morning, the Weather Service issued a flash flood watch through Wednesday morning for much of central Indiana including Hendricks County.

Torrential rainfall and lightning also were predicted in a hazardous weather outlook. Two rounds of severe weather are expected today. One will be in the late afternoon and early evening, and the next will come overnight as a cold front moves through.

By sunrise Wednesday, the area could record 1.5 to 3.75 inches of rain.
