Last Tuesday night, Brownsburg Town Councilman Dwayne Sawyer had his campaign kickoff at Comfort Suites in Brownsburg. XRB’s Shane Ray spoke with Sawyer for XRBradio.com. When asked if he was pleased with the turnout, Sawyer had this to say:

    Sawyer:

More than pleased! I had high expectation and those expectations were exceeded by the turnout. Thanks to all my volunteers and to the staff. I could not have done it without those wonderful people doing really good work. And thank you to all the attendees. I got some surprise visits from some very great people. It was very encouraging.

Sawyer is running unopposed in Brownsburg’s Ward # 2. Sawyer said he felt the need to show the public that he has no plans to coast through the election or any time spent on the Brownsburg Town Council.

    Sawyer:

If I did have an opponent or if I didn’t have an opponent, I still wanted my campaign to have a formal announcement and a kick off party. My belief was to let the people of Brownsburg know that I am still here, I still care about them, I still have concerns, and I still have a platform for the town. This is my way to give back to the town and let them know that I am still here to listen and make the best decisions in the best interest for the people of Brownsburg.

In other Brownsburg political race news, the Kiwanis Club of Brownsburg will be sponsoring a Brownsburg Candidate Debate night on March 22, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fire Territory Building located at 470 E. Northfield Drive.  All of the 2011 current candidates that have filed to be listed on the ballot on May 3, 2011 will be invited to participate in the debate arena.  The public is encouraged to attend in order to be able to vote intelligently about their candidate of choice. If you can’t attend the debate, it will be covered by WXRB on 1610am in Brownsburg and www.xrbradio.com.
