• Rural Routes to Main Street Cultural Trail Adds Three New Locations for 2014

    February 28, 2014 No comments

A popular, cultural experience in Central Indiana has added three new locations to an already stellar lineup that includes 30 destinations in two counties.

The Rural Routes to Main Street Cultural Trail, a self-guided, self-directed driving tour, spanning Hendricks and Morgan counties, is back for a fifth year featuring sites such as art studios, gift shops, restaurants and more.

New additions to the trail this year include:

    • FROGS (Fossil Rock Or Gemstone Store) – This fun, family shop in Pittsboro features rocks and gemstones of all kinds and offers classes and workshops.
    • Red Horse Livery – A diverse group of more than 40 local artisans sell their wares in this historic, former Masonic Lodge building in Coatesville, which also offers classes and studio space.
    • The Sterling  Butterfly and Pam Hurst Designs – This gift shop and art studio in Martinsville features a vast array of artisan-crafted products including jewelry, fashionable apparel, home décor and more.

With these three additions, the 2014 Rural Routes to Main Street Cultural Trail now boasts 24 stops that are open a minimum of Thursdays-Saturdays year-round. In addition, a Second Saturdays component, which was added in 2012, opens the trail up to six additional sites on the second Saturday of every month.

The Cultural Trail also hosts larger events during the year — ArtsGo! in the spring, Hot, Warm and Cold Glass Artists in Action in the summer and an Artisan Marketplace in the fall — to enhance the visitor experience with demonstrations and workshops.

The new 2014 Rural Routes to Main Street Guidebooks are now available at any of the stops along the trail, at the Visit Hendricks County office, 8 W. Main St., Danville, or online at www.RuralRoutesToMainStreet.com.

Visit Hendricks County can also help with overnight accommodations for those who want to extend their Rural Routes to Main Street Cultural Trail experience.
