Rep. Dan Burton announces retirement
January 31, 2012 No commentsIndiana Rep. Dan Burton announced this morning that he plans to retire after decades as a politician.
Burton, a Republican, has represented the 5th District in Congress since 1982. He served in the Indiana Senate before being elected to Congress.
On Tuesday, he stood on the Indiana House floor and said he was retiring for family reasons.
Burton had been recently spotted in Florida campaigning for presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich.
