Registration is underway for an annual Hendricks County summer event that has raised more than $600,000 in 10 years for local United Way agencies.

The 11th Annual Wings of Golf Outing, billed as the premier golf event in Hendricks County, will be Wednesday, Aug. 14 at Deer Creek Golf Club in Clayton.

“The Wings of Golf outing is such a great event for the United Way county programs and services,” said Susie Friend, executive director of the United Way of Hendricks County. “When you participate in this outing, you can be proud to know that you are helping youth, seniors, people with disabilities, domestic violence victims and so many more right here in Hendricks County. Last year, more than 49,000 county residents benefited from United Way programs.”

This year’s event begins with registration at 10 a.m. and a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Cost to play is $100 per person. That entry fee includes participation in a Florida Scramble with complimentary driving range, green fees, cart, lunch and dinner. You can enter a team or as an individual, and spots still remain. Visit www.WingsofGolf.com for more information about the event or to register online.

Several raffles, hole activities and other surprises also have become a staple of the event. Tickets for the large raffle drawing are now available from any Wings of Golf committee member and at the Visit Hendricks County office, 8 W. Main St., Danville.

In 10 years, the event has raised $636,000 for the United Way Agencies of Hendricks County.

Honorary co-chairs for the 2013 event include Tom Zupancic and Secretary of State Connie Lawson. Non-golfers can still participate during the after party beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the course.

This year’s Wings of Golf Master Partners are Duke Energy, Hendricks Regional Health, The Hendricks County Flyer, Hendricks Power Cooperative, Indianapolis Colts, State Bank of Lizton, Vectren and Visit Hendricks County.
