• Reagan Elementary to host 2nd Pup-Putt this week

A group of fourth- and fifth-grade students will again provide some family fun next week.

The Reagan Elementary students will host their second PupPutt event featuring a 20-hole miniature golf course that they designed and built outside their school.

    The public can golf from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 5 to 10 p.m. May 13, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. May 14 at the school, 4845 Bulldog Way.

Cost is $3 a person or $10 for a family.

Like last year, the event, which is a service learning project for the students, benefits the Spinal Cord Injury Hope Fund started by John Wassen, who was paralyzed from the neck down following a 2007 construction accident. He served as a classroom assistant at the school until he died earlier this year.

The fund provides financial grants to people with spinal cord injuries.

Students expanded the course to 20 holes this year to make two handicap-accessible holes, a dream of Wassen’s.
