Quakers Boy’s Tennis Team Conference Champs Again
September 30, 2010 No commentsFor the third straight season, the Mid-State Conference title belongs to the Plainfield boys’ tennis team.
The Quakers emerged victorious over the six-team field, topping second-place Greenwood by a comfortable margin.
No. 3 singles player Caleb Knust provided the title-clinching win on Monday, defeating Whiteland’s Cory Craig 6-0, 6-0. Knust improved to 21-0 on the season.
The Quakers also earned conference hardware in the other two singles positions.
In the No. 1 singles final, Jake Bradley defeated Whiteland’s Kevin Mull 6-2, 6-4. Jake Bouvy also won in No. 2 singles, rallying to beat Whiteland’s Jacob Cullison 4-6, 7-5, 6-0.
Plainfield’s No. 2 doubles team of Corey Brackney and Jacob Oehser also stepped up. The pair defeated a duo from Greenwood in straight sets to win a conference title.
Up next for the Quakers is a first-round sectional match-up against Danville at Brownsburg.
The Quakers are defending sectional champions.
