Preparations begin today on Odell Street makeover
February 20, 2012 No commentsThe town of Brownsburg will begin the initial phases of a realignment project at the intersection of Odell Street and U.S. 136 early today, paving the way for construction to begin in mid-summer.
Bart Doan of the Hendricks County Flyer reports that starting today, a portion of Odell will be closed in order for Vectren gas company to do the utility relocation necessary for the actual construction to begin. Town planning director Todd Barker expects this portion of the project to take around two to three weeks.
Barker said, “The town is working on essentially realigning Odell so it’s a direct alignment across 136, and as part of that alignment there will be a signal going into that intersection.”
In addition to a traffic signal, left-hand turn lanes will be added in each direction on both Odell and 136.
Construction is slated to start in late June or early July. Barker gave an estimate of a four- to five-month window on completion of the project.
For motorists concerned about their travel options, Barker pointed out that 136 will remain open and that Odell will likely have portions of it closed.
