• Poachers cited for killing geese

    Two men were cited by Indiana Conservation Officers for poaching Friday.

    Indiana Conservation Officers received a tip regarding two adult males who were shooting at Canada Geese that were attempting to nest.

    The tipster also explained to the DNR that the men had put a dead goose in a trash bag and discarded it behind a nearby residence.

    The Conservation Office arrived to the area and found two male adults shooting an assault type .22 Caliber rifle into an open field.

    According to reports, after talking with the two men, 26 year old Ryan Sautter of Peru, IN confessed to intentionally shooting the goose and trying to hide the carcass.

    Reports state that the officer cited Sautter with the unlawful taking of Geese and seized his rifle and the goose for evidence.

    22 year old Kyle Emery of Peru, IN was also cited for attempting to take Migratory Waterfowl out of season.

    Reports state that the two also admitted to shooting at the other geese that were attempting to nest in a nearby field.

    Indiana Conservation Officers want to remind citizens to utilize the tip hotline by calling 1-800 -TIP-IDNR, or online.

      This is a dumb story. So he shot ONE goose. DNR is only mad because he didn’ do it at the right time when they said he could. Really, print something a real story. This is insulting to our intellilgence.
