• Plane makes emergency landing

    January 24, 2012 No comments

A Republic Airways flight from Philadelphia to Indianapolis made an emergency landing early Tuesday morning.

A landing gear alert light prompted the emergency, and the plane was towed to the terminal with a flat tire under its right wing.

None of the 37 passengers on Flight 3339 was injured, although they described landing in emergency position with their heads tucked between their knees.

A spokeswoman for US Airways, which contracts Republic to operate Flight 3339, said the airline had not confirmed whether the tire blew on take-off or landing in Indianapolis.

She said the pilot followed normal procedures once he saw the gear alert light by flying by the tower for visual confirmation that the gear was down.
