    July 29, 2011 No comments

Several neighborhoods in Plainfield will participate in National Night Out activities with the Plainfield Police Department on Aug. 2.

National Night Out is an event designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for crime prevention, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and community relations with local law enforcement.

Residents will put on their porch lights and mingle with neighbors to strengthen their neighborhood crime watch from 5 to 9 p.m.

Plainfield Police Department Lt. Jill Lees and other officers will meet with residents in each participating neighborhood to show support for the crime watch and to answer questions or concerns from residents.

Target is a national sponsor of National Night Out and the Target store in Plainfield will be participating in the event.

For more information on how to start a neighborhood watch in Plainfield, call Lees at 838-3565.
