• Plainfield police officer helps make a delivery

    December 12, 2012 No comments

A Plainfield police officer received an unexpected call early Wednesday morning when he had to deliver a baby.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., Makala Benton went into labor, so her sister drove her to an area hospital.  When it appeared they were not going to make it to the hospital in time, Benton’s sister pulled over to the side of Washington Street.

Benton’s sister flagged down a Plainfield police officer, who called for an ambulance and helped Benton as best he could until medics arrived.

Benton delivered a healthy baby girl, Makenli Jayne, in the ambulance.
