The Plainfield Community School Board of Trustees has approved the appointment of Mrs. Julie Thacker to serve as assistant principal at Plainfield Community Middle School. Superintendent Scott Olinger made the recommendation for hire at Thursday’s Board meeting, February 13th.
Associate principal Pat Cooney says, “We are excited to add Julie to our team. Her knowledge and background in professional development, response to intervention and student services will enable our students to achieve at an even greater level.” The position officially begins July 1st.
After graduating from Hamilton Southeastern High School in 1989, Julie attended Ball State University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in English (1993). She continued expanding her love of language and children, gaining her teacher certification in Secondary Education from Ball State University (1996). In 2001, she earned her Master’s Degree in School Counseling at Indiana State University. Additionally, in 2010, Julie earned her Building Level Administrator License from Indiana State University.
Julie began her teaching career at Center Grove Middle School Central in 1996 where she taught 7th grade English for five years. Upon her graduation from Indiana State University, she moved into the role of Guidance Director at Center Grove Middle School Central where she has served parents and students for the past thirteen years. During her seventeen year career, Julie has been a true champion for middle school students.
Throughout her tenure at Center Grove, Julie has presented at state conferences, written and received grants, and provided leadership on numerous corporation and building-level committees.
Julie resides in Greenwood with her husband, Joel, and two children, Elaina (20) and Aidan (9).
