• Peyton Manning banner comes down ahead of NFL draft

    April 26, 2012 No comments

The NFL Draft is tonight where the Indianapolis Colts, who own the number one pick overall, will select Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck to take over the reins of the Colts offense. Yesterday, the banner of Peyton Manning on Lucas Oil Stadium was removed.

Crews removed the banner — which had been affixed with a “thank you” — around 12:30 yesterday. Colts officials said that the timing was coincindental as the equipment needed to remove the banner just happened to be available.

Indianapolis Colts officials had said in March the banner would have the “thank you” added to it and then be taken down prior to the 2012 season.

Luck is expected to be in Indianapolis on Friday. With the announcement this week that the Colts had told Luck he would be the first pick, Luck expressed relief that the announcement was finally made public and also said he was excited about the opportunity.
