• Pet Health Fair at the Hendricks County Animal shelter today in Danville

    September 28, 2012 No comments

The Indiana Pet Welfare Project and Hendricks County Animal Control/Shelter will host a pet health fair from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the shelter in Danville.

The health fair will offer rabies and distemper vaccinations and microchips for $10 each. Low-cost spay/neuter certificates will also be available and rebates will be offered to participants that spay or neuter their pets during the month of October.

Pet overpopulation is not just a problem in Hendricks County; it is a problem that affects the entire country. The only way to stop euthanizing healthy, adoptable animals is through spaying and neutering, and through shelter pet adoption. To encourage shelter pet adoption, Hendricks County Animal Control/Shelter staff will be on hand during the event and will be available to anyone looking to adopt.

The day of the event is significant as it is World Rabies Day, a day designated to help raise awareness about the impact of human and animal rabies and how easy it is to prevent. Many people don’t know that Indiana State Law requires that all pets be current on their rabies vaccination.

Area veterinarians are donating their time to the health fair.

The shelter is at 250 E. Campus Blvd. (across from Hendricks Regional Health), Danville. For more information, call the shelter at 845-9250 or Indiana Pet Welfare Project, Inc. at 599-7343.
