Penn is the Indians’ Player of the Month for June
July 06, 2010 No commentsThe Indians’ announced that right-handed pitcher Hayden Penn has been named the Indianapolis Indians’ Player of the Month for June.
The 25-year-old earned four victories for the Tribe during the month of June and posted a 1.89 ERA while striking out 32. Penn allowed only nine walks in 33.1 IP and limited opposing batters to a .226 batting average against during the month of June. Penn’s 1.89 ERA was the second lowest among all Triple-A pitchers that made at least six starts last month, trailing only Lehigh Valley’s Nate Bump who posted a 1.57 ERA in six starts for the IronPigs.
For being named the player of the month, Hayden received a custom-made watch — courtesy of Windsor Jewelers — prior to the game Sunday against the Louisville Bats.
