    Former Brownsburg and Butler Bulldog standout Gordon Hayward began his NBA career for the Utah Jazz Monday by doing what he has been doing his whole career. Hayward’s debut was solid as he scored eight points, with five rebounds, two assists and two steals but the Jazz lost to the Charlotte Bobcats 85-83 in Summer League action in Orlando Florida.   • Pacers Open Summer League Play

    The NBA’s summer league opened up with a couple of rookies making some immediate contributions.

    Indiana Pacers, second round draft pick Lance Stephenson scored 21 points hitting on 8 of 10 from the field and first round pick Paul George scored 12 points as the Pacers defeated the Orlando Magic 86-77 yesterday. Magnum Rolle who was Indiana’s other second round selection finished 13 points and 5 rebounds.

    It’s been a long and restful holiday weekend for many of us. Unfortunately for the Indianapolis Indians, their bats decided to take a long and restful weekend as well. The Tribe saw their losing streak reach 8 games as the Indians dropped a double header yesterday to the Cincinnati Reds top farm team the Louisville Bats. The Tribe lost game one by the score of 6-0 and dropped the nightcap 1-0. Read more

    The Indianapolis Indians returned to Victory Field last night fresh off a two game series with the IL West leading Columbus Clippers where the Tribe lost both games in Columbus. Hoping to return the favor, the Indians hosted the Clippers last night looking to cut in to Columbus’ 4 game lead over Indianapolis in the IL West. Read more

  • Pacers Waste Little Time in Signing Top Pick

    The Indiana Pacers signed first-round pick Paul George to a two-year guaranteed contract Thursday worth $1.9 million next season and $2 million the following. The Pacers have a team option on the third and fourth years. Indiana signed George exactly one week after drafting him 10th in last week’s NBA draft. George, a 6-9 small forward out of Fresno State, completed his first practice during the rookie/free agent camp Thursday and will be headed to Orlando to compete with the Pacers summer league team that will be playing there next week

  • Hayward Signs With Utah

    Former Brownsburg and Butler Bulldog standout Gordon Hayward has signed his rookie contract with the Utah Jazz. Hayward was drafted 9th in last week’s NBA draft and signed a contract that is thought to be worth nearly $4.9 million over two seasons, with separate team options for seasons 3 and 4.

  • Indy 500 start time change?

    Indianapolis Motor Speedway CEO Jeff Belskus announced that the start time for next years Indianapolis 500 will likely change back to its traditional 11:00 AM start from the current 1:00 PM start. The move would allow drivers that wish to compete in both the 500 and NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte the opportunity to do so. Drivers such as Tony Stewart and John Andretti have both attempted the day long fete and it would likely lure a driver such as NASCAR’s Juan Pablo Montoya who was the 2000 Indy 500 winner back to Indy.

    The idea gained momentum when Bruton Smith, CEO of Speedway Motorsports Inc., proposed putting up a $20 million bonus for any driver who could win both races on the same day.

  • Brownsburg’s Christy Headed to University of Florida

    Last year, the Brownsburg Bulldogs football team had a very successful season culminating in a 2009 Sectional Championship. Brownsburg was helped in no small part by their kicker Kyle Christy . Christy showed an impressive leg place kicking for the Bulldogs last year as he was perfect on the season within 40 yards and boomed several field goals from beyond that range. Read more

    COLUMBUS, Ohio — Third baseman Jared Goedert hit a backbreaking three-run home run with two outs in the fourth inning to cap a five-run frame and lead the Columbus Clippers to a 7-3 win over the Indianapolis Indians on Tuesday night at Huntington Park. Read more
