In a game that saw 105 total points, the Avon Orioles ended up on the wrong side of the scoreboard against Ben Davis Friday night as the Giants won the sectional title, 64-41.

Five Avon turnovers led to 24 Ben Davis points and proved to be the difference in the game.

The two teams combined for over 1,000 yards of total offense in a game that took three hours to play.

Avon came out and perfectly executed an onside kick to begin the game. That turned into a 3-0 lead after Eric Heidorn booted through a 39-yard field goal for Avon’s first and only lead of the contest.

Ben Davis answered after a turnover with a 40-yard touchdown by Chris McGee.

The Giants broke several big runs in the first half including a 30-yard carry by Lamont Osborn and a 38-yard scamper by quarterback Matt Brock.

Down 37-20 at the half, the Orioles kept fighting, but the Giants seemed to have an answer for everything they did.

A fumble on the opening kickoff of the second half turned into seven more points for the Giants as Osborn went in for the third of his five touchdowns on the night.

But Avon hung in and tried to make a game of it again, closing to within 16 early in the fourth quarter at 57-41.

Avon quarterback Logan Haston threw for 302 yards and four touchdowns on the night and ran another in from 10 yards out to lead the Orioles.
