• Officers fatally shoot armed Putnam County suspect

    Police in Putnam County fatally shot a suspect who charged at officers with knives.

    Officers were called to the scene of a domestic disturbance at a residence on South CR 300 West south of West CR 1050 South in Putnam County around 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening.

    When officers arrived, 38 year old William Williams of Reelsville was locked in a bathroom. When Williams came out, he ran at officers with two knives. Two officers shot Williams with stun guns, but they were not effective in stopping him.

    Williams reportedly then attacked another officer with the knives, at which time police say three officers fired their weapons, striking the him.

    Williams, was pronounced dead at the scene.

    No officers were reported to be harmed at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
