• Occupy Indy protestors told they must vacate

The state is preparing to clear out any remnants of the Occupy Indy encampment on the Statehouse lawn.

The Indiana Department of Administration ordered the small group of protesters to clear their camping chairs, food and other goods from the lawn in a letter delivered Wednesday. The state gave protesters 24 hours to move their belongings before police began clearing the property. The state threatened to arrest anyone who interferes.

It was unclear Wednesday evening whether protesters and police would face a showdown similar to what happened when police cleared encampments in California and New York earlier this week.

Capt. Dave Bursten with Indiana State Police says the group is welcome to continue to exercise their constitutional rights at the Statehouse, as long as they do so without violating the constitutional rights of others.
