• Ninth annual clothing drive to benefit Sheltering Wings set for February 26th.

    February 14, 2012 No comments

For the ninth year in a row, Susan Zabel and her family will be hosting a clothing drive to benefit Sheltering Wings.  The clothing drive will take place on February 26th from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. at their home, located at 6850 Four Winds Court, Brownsburg.

Sheltering Wings is an emergency housing system in Danville that gives shelter to women and children who are victims of domestic violence. It’s a safe haven where they can sleep, eat, and prepare a new, safer life for themselves with the help of trained employees.

The clothing collected does not go directly to the shelter. Because Sheltering Wings wants to use all of its space to provide housing for women and children that need it, they can’t afford to store hundreds of bags of clothing in their building. The Zabel’s have teamed up with Goodwill Industries. For every bag of clothing they collect, Goodwill will give Sheltering Wings a $5 voucher to a local Goodwill store that allows the women at the shelter to get the clothes they need without taking up room at Sheltering Wings. It also lets the women shop for their personal tastes. All types of clothing including men’s, women’s, and children’s will be accepted. Other items accepted include belts, purses, and shoes.

For more information about the clothing drive and how you can get involved, please call Susan Zabel at (317) 852-6633.
