Johnson, Co. – A nine car crash this morning o I-65 NB at the 101.8 mm snarled traffic and closed the NB lanes for approximately one and half hours while authorities cleaned up the wreckage.
Indiana State troopers were dispatched to I-65 NB at the 101.8 mm at 7:20 a.m. this morning to the report of a multi car crash. Preliminary investigation has revealed that traffic had slowed due to the morning congestion. Vehicles approaching the slowed traffic failed to negotiate the difference in speeds and ran into the back of the slower traffic.
Five people from two separate vehicles were transported to area hospitals. Peter Cotton, 43, of Indianapolis was transported to St. Francis for arm and back pain. Driver, Nicole Owens, 35, and her three passengers Katheryn Scott, 30, James Long, 36, and Brandon Underhill, 27, all of Indianapolis were transported to Eskenazi Hospital for complaint of pain. No further injuries were sustained in the crash.
The interstate was reopened at approximately 8:50 a.m.
