The Mud Soap Run, a 5K walk/run event with numerous obstacles along the way, will begin at 9 a.m. Aug. 3 at Ellis Park in Danville. The adventure course, which is the creation and brainchild of Lance Simon, will feature 15 to 20 obstacles in Ellis Park and through Blanton Woods that will challenge runners and walkers of all experience levels.
“As a kid, I loved running on the 46 acres behind my house through the woods and creeks,” Simon said. “Our plan is not to just have mud runs, but to show people they can have fun and exercise at the same time.”
Simon has taken some of the best obstacle ideas from mud runs he has participated in and came up with a few of his own for the event. Some of the Mud Soap Run obstacles will include a balance beam, hill climb, tub crawl, creek run and much more.
Simon wants it to be a fun event, so he is encouraging participants to wear costumes, war paint or anything else that brings out that spirit.
“This is the most challenging fun you will ever have,” he said. “This run is meant to pull people out of their normal everyday activities and cleanse the mind and body to its core.”
Cost is $60 a person through July 31. From Aug. 1 to the day of the event, that fee increases to $70 a person. To register or for more information about the event, visit www.MudSoapRun.com.
