• New lane restrictions to take effect on Washington St and High School Rd.

    March 01, 2012 No comments

The Indiana Department of Transportation will close the right eastbound lane of U.S. 40/Washington Street on the west side of Indianapolis and move traffic one lane to the left.

Restrictions will occur between High School Road and the U.S. 40 ramp to southbound I-465.

Crews are scheduled to replace pavement markings — shifting lanes several feet north and set barrels. Operations will begin after Friday morning’s rush hour and should end prior to 3 p.m.

There will also be lane restrictions on High School Road near the Washington Street intersection.

Walsh Construction, the state’s contractor for this Accelerate 465 Major Moves project, plans to widen the south side of U.S. 40 with temporary pavement. This will accommodate an early-April traffic switch needed to facilitate full-depth reconstruction of the U.S. 40/High School Road intersection.

Curb removal, excavation, and subgrade work for the temporary lane should begin Monday.
