A man arrested after he was clocked driving 102 mph on a state road was stopped a second time just hours later.

Police say 43 year old Luis Jimenez of Illinois, was driving 102 mph in a 60 mph zone along State Road 63 near County Road 300 South in Vermillion County during rainy conditions Thursday morning.

Jimenez was arrested on a preliminary charge of reckless driving, a Class B misdemeanor, and was taken to the Vermillion County Jail.

He posted bond and he and his passenger continued on to Terre Haute.

But less than four hours later, on his return trip, the same trooper clocked Jimenez driving 77 mph in the same 60 mph zone.

He was ticketed again and released.

Vermillion County Prosecutor’s Office has a standard policy that requires drivers who exceed the posted speed limit by 30 mph to be arrested and charged with reckless driving.
