Recently, the Greenwood Police Department held their awards banquet honoring those who have served the city and its citizens with exceptional meritorious service. Among those honored was Indiana State Police Trooper Shane Cunningham. Trooper Cunningham received the below commendation and a plaque from Greenwood Police Chief John Laut.
Over his eight year creer, Indiana State Police Trooper Shane Cunningham has distinguished himself by exceptional meritorious service in a succession of numerous incidents in the aid of officers of the Greenwood Police Department. Trooper Cunningham has aided Greenwood Police Officers with tasks far beyond what is normally expected in his capacity as a Trooper of the Indiana State Police. Trooper Cunningham routinely assists officers of this department with incidents including traffic investigations, domestic violence calls, fleeing persons and resisters, just to name a few. trooper Cunningham was recently injured assisting Greenwood Officers during one such case. Without Trooper Cunningham’s assistance on any number of these runs, the outcome may have been in question. Trooper Cunningham’s selfless service to our city and outstanding dedication to duty reflect great credit on him and the Indiana State Police.
Trooper Cunningham is a seven year veteran of the Indian State Police and is assigned to patrol Johnson County working out of the Indianapolis Post. He resides in Greenwood with his wife four children.
