• Kroger and Indianapolis Motor Speedway Announce Partnership and the “Kroger Super Weekend at the Brickyard”

    April 12, 2012 No comments

At a news conference this morning at Kroger’s 5718 Crawfordsville Road store in Speedway, Kroger Central Division President Bob Moeder, Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) President and CEO Jeff Belskus, Riley Children’s Foundation President and CEO Kevin O’Keefe and veteran race driver John Andretti announced a new, comprehensive partnership between the two companies, also benefitting Riley Children’s Foundation.

The partnership includes a year-long Kroger sponsorship of events at the IMS.  The weekend that includes the Crown Royal Presents the “Your Hero’s Name Here” 400 at the Brickyard will be named the “Kroger Super Weekend at the Brickyard.”  The weekend will include two Friday races, a Saturday race and The Brickyard 400 on Sunday.  Kroger will be the sponsor of the Kroger Kids Club, working with the IMS to build year-long opportunities for children and their families.  Kroger will be the official florist of the IMS, as well as the official box lunch provider of the IMS.

“Kroger, as the longest-running sponsor in NASCAR history, has been part of the series since 1981.  Our partnership with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will take that to the next level, benefitting customers, associates and fans of both companies,” said Kroger Central Division President Bob Moeder. “As a passionate supporter of Riley Children’s Hospital, I am especially pleased by the new opportunities we have identified to support our Riley kids.”

Both The Kroger Co. and IMS are highly-engaged, generous corporate citizens.  Collaborating on community engagement will be a significant aspect of the partnership.  The primary beneficiary of that effort will be Riley Children’s Foundation.  As Kroger works with veteran race driver and passionate Riley supporter John Andretti, vendor partner General Mills, radio broadcaster Dave Wilson and others to dramatically increase fund-raising proceeds for Riley throughout 2012, the IMS has pledged their strong support.
