• Jameson Camp Women’s Auxiliary to Host Painting with a Twist Fundraiser

    December 23, 2013 No comments

Ladies, uncork your inner artist and get ready to have some fun. The Women’s Auxiliary at Jameson Camp invites women to attend their Painting with a Twist – A Girls’ Night Out fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the camp’s Retreat Center, 2001 Bridgeport Road. The proceeds from this event will go to help fund the camp’s youth leaders’ 2014 spring break service trip.

“The Women’s Auxiliary is delighted to offer this fun Girls’ Night Out event to benefit the youth leaders served by Jameson Camp,” says Yvonne Matlock, development director. “Almost 75 percent of the children we serve are from households at or below poverty level. The proceeds from this event will enable our youth leaders to go on a service trip to Foley, Ala., over spring break in March to partner with Ecumenical Ministries to help elderly residents with work projects and house repairs.”

For over 85 years, Jameson Camp has enriched the lives of Indiana youth (ages 7-17) by inspiring them to discover their strengths while attending residential summer camp, a year-round youth leadership program for teens, and outdoor educational programs and field trips for school and youth groups. These programs serve a common purpose, which is for youth to “Get Outside and Grow Inside.” Each year, Jameson Camp touches the lives of over 1,000 youth in meaningful and lasting ways.

At the Girls’ Night Out event, participants will be taught by local art instructors from Painting with a Twist how to recreate, step-by-step, the featured acrylic painting.

“The event is geared for anyone, whether you have experience painting or not,” Matlock says. “You’ll go from a blank canvas to a floral masterpiece that you can take home as a keepsake. Come join us and have a good time in a relaxed, fun atmosphere.”

The cost for the event is $50 per person and includes art supplies and instruction, two glasses of wine, hors d’oeuvres and door prizes. Participants must be 21 years or older and present a valid I.D. at check-in. The doors open at 6:30 p.m.
